9:9. പണ്ടു യിസ്രായേലിൽ ഒരുത്തൻ ദൈവത്തോടു ചോദിപ്പാൻ പോകുമ്പോൾ: വരുവിൻ; നാം ദർശകന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പോക എന്നു പറയും; ഇപ്പോൾ പ്രവാചകൻ എന്നു പറയുന്നവനെ അന്നു ദർശകൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുവന്നു.--

9:9. (Now it used to be in Israel that whenever someone went to inquire of God he would say, "Come on, let's go to the seer." For today's prophet used to be called a seer.)

9:9. (In those days if people wanted a message from God, they would say, "Let's go and ask the seer," for prophets used to be called seers.)

Saul and the servant were walking up the hill toward town when they met some young women on the road. The young women were coming out to get water. Saul and the servant asked the young women, "Is the seer here?" (In the past, people in Israel called a prophet a "seer." So if they wanted to ask something from God, they would say, "Let's go to the seer.")
